Paul was educated at Haberdashers’ Aske’s School, Elstree, and The Peddie School, Hightstown, New Jersey, USA (English Speaking Union Schoolboy Scholar) before reading Law at Sheffield University (LLB).
He was called to the Bar of England and Wales by the Inner Temple in July 1980 and has been in independent practice as a barrister since then. He now specialises in Family Finance law from chambers at 36 Bedford Row, London WC1R 4JH (DX: LDE 360).
He has conducted cases at every level of court including the House of Lords and the Privy Council. His practice has taken him all over the world.

- A member of the Duke Corporate Education Non-Traditional Global Learning Resource Network, for whom he has conducted executive training in the UK, Europe, the Middle East and India.
In addition to this work he has an interest in the law of harassment and stalking. He is a trustee of the Suzy Lamplugh Trust and has written books and articles and has broadcast and lectured extensively on this subject.
He is the co-author of ‘The Law of Harassment and Stalking’ (Butterworths, 2000) and a contributor to ‘Stalking and Psychosexual Obsession’ (John Wiley, 1997).
